Genesis Back & Neck was born from personal pain, hard lessons, and a promise I made to myself that no one under my care would walk blindly into the same outcome I did.

At 20 years old, I experienced a devastating back injury that left me temporarily unable to move my legs. What began as a single moment of trauma became decades of chronic spinal pain, recurring flare-ups, and constant fear of the next episode. Like many patients, I tried everything—chiropractic care, therapy, exercise, injections, medications—doing my best to stay active while quietly living on edge.

Eventually, fear took over.

I was told my L5–S1 disc was so damaged that spinal fusion was my only option to avoid permanent nerve damage. Despite my background as a chiropractic physician, I trusted the system and agreed to surgery. I believed it would be the end of my pain.

It wasn’t.

The fusion surgery was the most painful experience of my life—and it didn’t solve the problem. Within months, I was being advised to fuse another level. What no one explained to me beforehand was the long-term reality of spinal fusion: when one segment of the spine is locked in place, the surrounding levels are forced to absorb more stress and motion. Over time, those discs deteriorate faster—a condition known as adjacent segment disease.

That’s exactly what happened to me.

Within five years, multiple levels of my spine showed accelerated degeneration. The surgery that was supposed to fix everything had instead set the stage for a lifetime of escalating interventions.

That experience changed the direction of my career—and my purpose.

When I later discovered advanced spinal decompression technology designed specifically to reduce disc pressure in a precise, controlled way—even in spines with prior fusion—it was the first time I experienced meaningful, lasting relief. More importantly, it showed me what was missing from the traditional spine-care conversation: options.

Genesis Back & Neck exists to make sure patients fully understand those options before surgery becomes the default answer.

Outside the clinic, I stay active, enjoy traveling (especially to the beach), and spend as much time as possible with my seven grandchildren—daily reminders that a healthy spine isn’t just about pain relief, but about freedom, longevity, and living fully.

With more than three decades of clinical experience, Dr. Jeff Norman has dedicated his career to helping patients overcome chronic pain, restore movement, and reclaim their quality of life. As Co-Founder of Genesis Back & Neck, he brings a powerful combination of clinical expertise, patient-centered care, and a passion for helping people find real solutions—especially when they’ve been told surgery is their only option.

Known by many as “The Laughter Guru,” Dr. Norman is not only a chiropractic physician, but also an internationally sought-after speaker and accomplished author. He has written seven books, including Overcoming Burnout: 7 Steps to Rekindling the Fire and Becoming Passionately Engaged in Your Life and his newest release, The Healing Power of Laughter. Through his speaking and writing, he has inspired audiences across the country and around the world—teaching that healing is not just physical, but emotional and mental as well.

Dr. Norman has spent over 30 years in private practice and has pursued extensive advanced training in spinal care, rehabilitation, clinical nutrition, functional medicine, and the treatment of chronic pain conditions and injury-related cases. Early in his career, he was honored as “New Doctor of the Year” by the Utah Chiropractic Physician’s Association, where he later served in multiple leadership roles, including Chairman of the Board of Directors.

At Genesis Back & Neck, Dr. Norman focuses on helping patients with disc injuries, chronic neck and back pain, and nerve-related conditions find relief through non-surgical, evidence-based approaches. He is especially passionate about guiding patients who feel stuck, frustrated, or out of options—helping them understand their condition, regain confidence in their bodies, and experience meaningful progress.

In addition to co-founding Wellspring Advanced Health, Dr. Norman is the founder of Balance and Performance Centers of America, reflecting his long-standing commitment to improving both stability and functional performance in his patients.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Norman enjoys spending time with his wife Carrie of 37 years, their four children, two grandchildren, and their two beloved Yorkies. Whether in the office, on stage, or at home, he is known for bringing energy, humor, and heart into everything he does.
